Issue 1: When I import photos into LR, I thought the raw files were converted to .dng files ... but apparently some of them are retaining their original .cr2 designation which i believe is Canon's raw file ... is that right? Graduated filters creating a dark line - cleaning up white backgrounds
8 Feb 2012 | 11:45 amI thought it might be an optical illusion, however I've done some tests using a colour picker in photoshop and I can confirm that I've started noticing something strange when using the graduated filter which causes darkening to appear just after where the grad. filter ends. When lightening one part of an image using the grad. filter, you would not expect another part of the image outside of the selected area to go darker, which is quite strange. This was noticeable when making the edges pure white on a slightly off white background with the exposure and brightness settings on the grad. filter… -

I want to now save the picture with the text overlays as a JPEG however in the slideshow tab, I only see the option to save as a PDF. Is there a way to save the photo with the text as a JPEG? Dual monitors
8 Feb 2012 | 8:20 amI am using two monitors, one with the tools etc on it and one with a full screen view. The one with the full screen view is the better one and calibrated. the inferior one isn't calibrated but if I did calibrate it the brightness would still be different. On the inferior one the flashing highlight/blacks show - press J - and the better monitor doesn't show the flashing. Is it possible to show the flashing on the better monitor and still have my present set up? TIA -

Back in October, we sold the Mini we used to tow to our friends Chris and Cherie, of Technomadia, and ordered a new Mini Countryman. We're still waiting on the arrival of our new MINI Countryman, which is currently on a ship heading our way. In the photo above, you'll see a screen shot from a live web cam of the Panama Canal. We saw all of the big five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, cape buffalo) and many other animals in one day. The new Olympus E-M5
4 Feb 2012 | 11:27 amFor a while I've been announcing the end of digital SLRs as an useless concept for amateur and even some pro photographers. And now Olympus comes up with a new compact mirrorless design that looks like a (retro) SLR! Strange days. The camera has an integrated hi-res viewfinder. I may be wrong, but I think I prefer the external version that is available for the E-P2 and E-P3. I got used to framing with the viewfinder at a 45° angle. Apparently most people use it this way also. There is also a titable LCD, which I find useless. And an external grip too! We'll see what the first reviews bring… -

Motion Control Timelapse with The Mill

Rama Allen directed the project and he has always been a true inspiration and is an incredible director. We filmed in some amazing locations to include New York City, Paris, and Barcelona using the Kessler Crane Shuttle Pod Motion Control System.
