This is Lightroom’s way of letting you make a backup of your photos as you import them. That way you can get your import and your backup all done at once.   After 15 years of long-term planning (and saving) Susan and I finally took the plunge with a full kitchen remodel. We were really pleased with the results, and at some point I had promised the contractor a nice photo of the final product.In a room like this you are basically illuminating the inside of a box by using hidden lights, which turned out to be an interesting exercise.   Aspen, Colorado-based photographer Tyler Stableford generally shoots action and adventure, most of it aboveground. But this shoot for Timberland PRO would send him a half-mile deep into the earth. That far down, before adding light it is absolutely pitch black. As in, you cannot see your hand in front of your face. And the lights the miners use while extracting coal there aren't much friendlier -- low-level, and a mix of tungsten and fluorescents. Who knows?   Route 66 I just got back from Route 66, using my new Canon S100 (as well as my old LEICA M3).   So in love was Todd with his own handsomeness, he didn’t mind in the least having to stand twice as far back from mirrors in order to see the entirety of his grotesquely swelled head. Here’s a pure CGI image which fails on several levels, from the too-large reflected image of a missing man, to the too-small shower head, to the questionable reflection of the area where the razor hangs.  I also love how nothing in this image is the least bit wet!  What, is this the only mirror in the entire bathroom?   Sensitive to recent criticism that their group was neither family friendly nor racially diverse, the People’s Militia of Flathead County found Photoshop to be a godsend in alleviating their public relations nightmare. Air Dictate app pairs with a small piece of software installed on your computer to transcribe Siri dictation onto your Mac. Apparently, some of Air Dictate’s interface violates Apple’s interface rules for apps which caused it to be removed from the App Store.   I have a D300, which I am very happy with. The only thing that has me even thinking about a new camera is getting better low ISO performance. I will use upto 800 without problem, but don't like going above that, unless I really have to. I am nothing more than a happy snapper, who has some nice glass and likes to be able to take lots of FPS. Not interested in video as I have my eye on the new Panny 3CCD thats due out next month. So the only thing I can think of is to look at getting a second hand D700 as that should let me go unto 1600 without problems. Not even sure that there is a question…

  Hi, My workflow consists of RAW to 64 bit Lightroom to Photoshop (as a layered TIFF for cleanup) to Lightroom. I have my final export settings in LR for ProPhoto jpg. If I wanted to send these to a lab for prints, should I export as sRGB or send both versions to a lab and see what comes back? Thanks!

  New LR user. Figured out how to do the basic stuff and so far it's working out well for me. Once I get to really understanding how to use this tool I know I'm going to love it. One thing I noticed right off is that LR3 is clobbering the meta data coming from my camera. I've looked all over and found some likely suspects but so far I have not been able to get LR to honor the existing picture meta data. I'm sure this is a very simple thing to fix...probably a mouse click somewhere. Could someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks in advance!

  In a note to clients -- as reported by "Barron's" (http://macte.ch/qVPgC) -- Morgan Keegan analyst Tavis McCourt, says that, after looking at data from all makers of phones who have reported for the quarter so far, "Apple simply dominated Q4:11 handset/mobile computing trends." He adds that Apple now accounts for nearly 50% of the revenues of the entire industry and over 80% of the profits by his calculation. McCourt notes that global mobile computing revenue rose 34% with Apple’s results included, but sagged 0.4% in the fourth quarter when Apple is taken out of the picture.
