If you want an image draw an X, a video draw a triangle, etc. Move these objects around, add text place holders, menus and navigation. Mac OS X 10.7.4 Lion Update Ends My Frustration
13 May 2012 | 9:01 pmAlthough I’ve been on Lion now since 10.7.2 and have either found work arounds for the things that bothered me or I’ve adapted, there was still one annoying default that I couldn’t overcome. No matter what, if you restarted your Mac running Lion you would have to manually uncheck the box each time to NOT have Lion relaunch all your Applications and Documents. Relief for this default came in the latest update 10.7.4. The checkbox is still there, but now it’s “sticky”. When you uncheck it, it will remain unchecked until you check it again! FINALLY! -

3 May 2012 | 6:00 amThere are no AC plugs near Delicate Arch in Grand County, Utah, where Royce Bair made this night landscape shot. So all of his flashes needed to be battery-powered to illuminate the 20-meter tall formation. Two of his light sources were Norman 400B's, weighing in at 6 lbs and from which he needed a total of 48 pops to make the image. But his Big Gun required only two pops to balance with the Normans. Some Fun Down Under!

Shaping Light, Simply
2 May 2012 | 4:53 amBack in January, I did some dance photography for Kelby Online Training, and was really happy with a couple of frames. (Those classes are working their way through the editing system as we speak.) I’ve shown this on the blog before, a modern dancer, painted with tempura paint, and perched in a bird’s nest of tulle. It was lit with just one TTL flash, camera right, just out of frame. I used a Lastolite Ezybox hot shoe soft box (say that fast a few times) with a white interior, which is a wrinkle on their long existing design of soft boxes with silver clad interiors. 30 Apr 2012 | 5:33 amFlew home yesterday from Dusseldorf. 18 hours here, and then another plane (hope it’s really big and has lots of engines cuz it’s going over lots of water) to Sydney, and magical land of Aus. I had a blast down there during the Olympics and this is a return visit I’ve been looking forward to for a long time. Here’s a tour link for our itinerary down there. They work trying to save preemies and sick babies, and they just have an amazing organization. 16 May 2012 | 8:18 amI’ve heard a lot of talk about what happens to presets that were created in Lightroom 3 (or LR2) and now used in Lightroom 4. I know a lot of people have presets that they absolutely loved in Lightroom 3 and they simply don’t seem to look the same in Lightroom 4. That’s because of the differences in sliders in the Basic panel. Sliders that were in Lightroom 3 simply don’t exist in Lightroom 4. 10 May 2012 | 9:05 pmAdobe’s Lightroom Product Manager, Tom Hogarty, announced that Lightroom is now available on the Apple Mac Store (for North America only). I think overall it’s a good move for Lightroom. For new Lightroom users out there who are on the Mac store and may never have otherwise heard of Lightroom, this is just another way to get it into their hands. It also looks like we’ll be in Washing DC that same week and probably San Francisco the week after but I’ll keep you posted. Lightroom 4.1 Release Candidate 2 is on the Adobe Labs website.
